By replacing a standard, builder-grade vent with a custom-tailored stainless steel hood, we managed to elevate the entire kitchen from a standard space to a high-end, custom culinary hub.

Before: Great Cabinetry, Misplaced Proportions

At first glance, this kitchen already had a lot going for it. The dark espresso wood cabinetry was rich and elegant, the layout was spacious, and the overall construction had great bones.

But the cooking area felt completely unfinished.

The issue was the original stainless steel range hood. It was a standard model that was simply too small for the scale of the kitchen. Because it lacked depth and height, it looked completely swallowed up by the heavy cabinetry around it, leaving the central wall looking flat and visually disconnected. While it worked fine mechanically, it didn’t deliver the premium look the homeowners wanted.

After: Scaling Up for a Custom Look

To fix the visual imbalance, the homeowners decided to swap out the appliance for a handcrafted, custom-sized stainless steel hood designed specifically for this kitchen's exact proportions.

The difference was immediate. We went with a wider, more architectural silhouette that properly anchors the cooking zone. Instead of a highly reflective, shiny finish that can look cheap under bright kitchen lights, this hood features a soft, brushed texture. It diffuses light beautifully and creates a clean, sophisticated contrast against the deep espresso cabinets.

To complete the transformation, the homeowner paired the new hood with a textured tile backsplash. This detail framed the entire cooking area, turning the custom hood into the true focal point of the room.
